Summary: "Fun for Kids"

I bought the game for my 8 yr old niece who really likes it. She also has the Sing It game which uses the same songs. Its not as much dancing as I expected, more hand motions. I think the game with the dancepad would be a little more fun to do.

Summary: "Too frustrating"

Gosh, I was super excited for my daughter to play this game which she just got for Christmas. O-boy what a disappointment!
You are supposed to move your arms with the remote and the other game controller up, down and to the side ... but while doing so you are supposed to hit the bars that are on the screen when the balls appear and hit it right at the same time they hit the bars, but the bars are too hard to match up with for some reason. I tried moving my arms any possible way and I moved closer and farther from the screen, and only 1 out 8 tries I'm able to hit the bars. That's too frustrating and my 6 year old gave up after trying it for 30 minutes of no luck. It really isn't so much dancing that you are doing. Just moving your arms around.

I'm hugely disappointed! I will try it again before I completely shelve this game, but it shouldn't be this hard to play a game - right?

Summary: "Fun for All Ages!"

We have 3,6 & 7 year old girls. They LOVE this game. Even the little one (who usually gets a failing grade) loves the music! Creating their own characters is an added bonus and being able to get new clothing, change their clothes and their appearance is icing on the cake! The sophomore level songs are plenty easy for elementary school kids while the senior level keeps us adults on our dancing toes! Fun for the whole family and so many different songs & levels to move through that it takes a fair amount of time to "graduate".

Great fun for the whole family, especially if people really get into it and do the moves. There are some serious HSM fanatics in my family, and they LOVE playing this game!

Summary: "Rent It Before Buying"

You "dance" with only your arms, moving the wiimote and nunchuck up, down, and to the side following the onscreen prompt. Really, who dances like that? I don't know why all the dancing titles don't use mats! Anyway, unlike this game in other platforms, it is arm swinging only, no mat or feet use. Other negatives- your on screen charector doesn't dance with you, or even perform the same moves as you. Your movements don't follow the beat. So you are literally standing there waving your arms around (with the wii cord smacking your face every third wave), trying to match the prompt while all the cast is having a great time singing and dancing around looking nothing like you. The prompt is a large circle of lines around your charactor, and a bubble moves from inside the circle out you are to wave your arm thru the circle at the same time. kinda distracting. Also, almost everything is locked in the beginning except about 8 songs. Positives are great graphics, and we recognized all the songs. So for me it was weird and boring, but I must admit my 8 yr old daughter really likes the game and has been playing it nonstop. The price listed here is incredibly high for what you get. Maybe the unlocked portions will reveal some new fabulous feature but otherwise I recommend checking it out first before you buy it and a wireless remote is a must.
